Love or Arranged?

That is one question that pops up in people's minds (in India) when told about someone's wedding... in the cities at least... In all fairness, let me tell you that this reaction is gender as well as age biased... Oh yes it is! Let me explain with an example.

The Chadha family has been invited to Neha's wedding in Delhi. Now the Chadha family consists of Preeti Aunty, Ramesh uncle, Pooja and Sunny. The reaction of each family member is as follows:
Preeti Aunty -> it must be a love marriage, Neha used to hang out with a lot of boys. Her mother was not strict enough. I would never let Pooja do such a thing. We have family values jdoeiurwiojgkdfjgkldjdfogjopreutproipoer (her thought process is on a wild chase and there is no stopping it!)
Ramesh Uncle -> it must be an arranged marriage; Neha's father has a very flourishing business and has no sons. Hence he'll want his daughter to marry someone he himself has chosen.
Pooja (she is 16 years old) -> it must be love.... oooo how romantic. When will I have a boy friend and when will I marry him?
Sunny (he is 12 years old) -> I wonder if Saurabh and his sister will come for the wedding as well. Saurabh's sister is smoking hot man!

Of course with a lot of daughters like Pooja growing up to fall in love and marry out of their liking the parents have become very accepting and “broad minded”, at least upfront.

Now let me twist the example and say that the Chadha family has been invited for Rahul’s wedding. The reactions are somewhat like this:
Preeti Aunty -> Rahul is getting married!!! . If only he would ve waited for a couple of years more, my Pooja would have been perfect for him. He is such a good boy, so handsome and earns 90k a month. Am sure some good for nothing bitch must have trapped him. They have a palatial bungalow in Alaknanda (South Delhi) and is the only son of his parents. Sons have become such soft targets these days. I’ll have to keep a tab on whom my Sunny meets. My Sunny will be a such an eligible hrgherioug riugeriutieouioeuytiouti (and of course Preeti aunty has again let her thought process loose).
Ramesh Uncle -> It must be a love marriage. Ramesh is a smart boy. He was working in Pune, he must have won himself some very modern and gorgeous girl from his office. These girls working in MNCs are hot as well as earn good moolah.. Clever boy that Ramesh.
Pooja -> It must be an arranged marriage. That Ramesh has always had a roving eye but he will always be a mamma’s boy. He’ll do what his mom will tell him to.
Sunny -> I wonder if Saurabh and his sister will come for the wedding as well. Saurabh's sister is smoking hot man!
